Every employee should have a newsletter

Every employee should have a newsletter.

Full stop.

Hear me out.

Those like me that have chosen the employment route as our primary income source, opposed to entreprenuership, are most limited in time.

We don't have a lot of extra time to make more money.

Running a newsletter is the best way to solve that problem.

Here's why:

Every employee has something great that they do. That could be a hobby, a life experience, a talent, or something related to their job.

That thing that you do well can make you money.

The fact that you are reading this right now is proof of concept. I have experience building wealth as an employee and you want to read about it.

I am convinced that it has never been a better time to start a newsletter. Here's why:

Newsletter are growing extremely fast. This is what Google Gemini found out about newsletter growth:

This leads me to the next proof: A.i. is killing traditional SEO.
In that screenshot above I am showing you how a.i. is answering my question without taking me to any websites.

That's bad news for the current model of internet marketing.

Because of a.i. consumers are looking for more human connection and businesses are looking for a way to keep their customers engaged.

The solution: newsletters.

I love this video from Gary Vaynerchuk, I think you should watch it. Gary explains that the social media game has completely changed.

video preview

Gary says we no longer live in a "social media" world, we live in an "interest media" world. This is what it looks like:

My Facebook feed is now full of these posts that say "Matches your interests." I don't follow these accounts. The algorithim, boosted by a.i., is sending me content based on what it knows I like.

The result: anyone with no followers can reach an audience on social media if they post content that know about.

The algorithims will find your audience.

Here's how it works:

  1. You publish content that you know about
  2. The algorithim pushes it to interested audiences.
  3. You tell the audience to join your newsletter for exclusive content.

Now you have a growing newsletter without paid advertising.

You're probably now thinking, "Garrett, what am I supposed to write about?"

Write about YOU.

I always say that the most misleading career advice is to follow your passion and do what you love. No, you should do (for your job) what makes you money.

Now, I'm telling you the opposite.

Your newsletter is the chance to write about what you love.

This is beause people want to hear about your passion and the beauty of newsletters is that they can earn money in lots of ways, all you need are readers.

Let me walk you through an example:

When I decided to launch my newsletter, I worked through a process of identifying my niche. It looked like this:

My passion is: making money

What I accomplished: solid net worth and passive income

How I did it differently: did not quit my job or work long hours

Okay, we're getting somewhere. But there's lots of people that have made money without quitting their job.

So, I used a.i. to take it a step further.

"Hey Grok, how rare is a millennial, who grew up in poverty, now raising four children, who never worries about money, and is writing a newsletter?"

Interesting...

"Ok Grok, now tell me what percentile is a U.S. household that has a gross annual income of $200,000 and a net annual working hours of 2,500."

Now, that's worth writing about.

In the coming editions I am going to teach you how to start a newsletter and how to monetize it (earn income).

For now, start thinking about what is unique about you. Use a.i. to help you answer this question. I recommend Grok (I pay $8/month) or Abacus.ai (I pay $20/month). Abacus.ai has far more capabilities.
